Loading up against Steven Jackson and the Rams' running game apparently carries few consequences.

This should be a discouraging outcome for the Rams. They won the turnover battle and still they could not score points. That's a sign of a bad offense.

The Rams worked deep into the fourth quarter before surpassing their 166-yard total from the 2008 season opener, a 38-3 defeat to the Eagles. Everyone knew the Rams lacked firepower beyond Jackson, but the Seahawks gave them plenty of chances early in the game.

The slope from 0-1 to much worse could be a slippery one for the Rams. They play the Redskins (road), Packers (home), 49ers (road), Vikings (home), Jaguars (road) and Colts (home) over the next six weeks. They will not win any of those games without showing improvement on offense.

The Seahawks can't read too much into beating the Rams, but there were encouraging signs from them in this game. Tight end John Carlson and running back Julius Jones made big plays. The rapport between Matt Hasselbeck and Carlson will be critical for the Seahawks this season.
