News could have been worse for Rams

First-round rookie tackle Jason Smith could miss one or two games after suffering a knee injury that is not expected to require surgery.
That's good news for the Rams given that Smith, drafted in part for his toughness, was unable to finish the Week 2 game against the Redskins. Center Jason Brown also apparently avoided serious injury.
Adam Goldberg is expected to start at right tackle against the Packers. Aaron Kampman generally lines up at outside linebacker on the left side of the defense. That could be a difficult matchup for the Rams even if Smith were available, although Kampman is still working through the transition to a 3-4 defense. Kampman has zero sacks through two games after collecting 37 over the previous three seasons.
