News that Frank Gore could miss three weeks recovering from ankle and foot injuries comes at a fortuitous time relative to the bye.
Gore

The 49ers face the Rams and Falcons at home over the next two weeks before their bye. That should allow Gore to return no later than Week 7. The team's decision to select Glen Coffee in the third round of the 2009 draft is looking like a very good one.

Also on the injury front for the 49ers, left tackle Joe Staley suffered a right quadriceps contusion. His status is day-to-day, which means he'll play Sunday. Safety Reggie Smith suffered a groin strain. The team plans to re-evaluate the injury in two weeks.
