Steve Kelley of the Seattle Times charts how far the Seahawks have fallen, and it's a long ways. Kelley: "Teams that talk title find ways around injuries and find ways to mute greatness. The Seahawks haven't and didn't."
Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times says the Seahawks were not prepared for life without both starting offensive tackles. Few teams would be very good without their starting quarterback and starting tackles.
Also from O'Neil: Nothing the Seahawks tried Sunday worked against Peyton Manning.
Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times says T.J. Houshmandzadeh brushed off his eight-catch performance because "garbage time" was when the receiver piled up most of his stats. Better late than never.
Eric D. Williams of the Tacoma News Tribune encountered "quiet resignation" among Seahawks players who must have known the team's chances were slim against the Colts. Those same players still felt good about the team's broader chances, however.
Also from Williams: a report card with a failing grade for the Seattle defense. Williams: "The Seahawks said they wanted to force the Colts to drive the length of the field and earn their points. Mission accomplished. Indianapolis scored four touchdowns on drives of 78 yards or more, as Seattle's defense failed to disrupt Peyton Manning & Co."
More from Williams: Surprise, surprise. Houshmandzadeh says he's open pretty much every play.
More yet from Williams: Seattle had no chance, basically.
Todd Milles of the Tacoma News Tribune says Dwight Freeney's surprising return to health did no favors for the Seahawks.
Also from Milles: The Seahawks hadn't gotten a full dose of Manning since the 2000. This one should suffice for a while.
Greg Johns of seattlepi.com says the Seahawks' injury situation didn't improve Sunday, with Rob Sims (ankle) and Patrick Kerney (groin) leaving the game. Johns: "Minus Matt Hasselbeck, Walter Jones, (Marcus) Trufant, Leroy Hill, Sean Locklear and now Sims and Kerney, the Seahawks simply didn't have the weapons to hang with Indy."
