Aaron Curry's recent revelation that he incurred fines in three of his first four NFL games begged for details.
I've tracked them down as follows:
- Week 1: fined $5,000 for hitting Rams tackle Jason Smith in the knee area after a play
- Week 2: fined $7,500 for a major facemask
- Week 3: fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness (striking opponent in head area)
- Week 4: forced to play against Peyton Manning
OK, that last one wasn't a fine so much as it was punishment mandated by the NFL schedule.
As Curry said Thursday: "I think I have taken one step out of my game as far as the whistle goes. I like to play to or through the whistle, but I guess playing through the whistle gets you dings in your pockets."
