Mare kicked his tail off for this? Unacceptable

Seahawks kicker Olindo Mare was dissed but not quite dismissed after missing two field goals in Week 3, yet he accounted for all Seattle's points during a 27-3 defeat to the Cardinals in Week 6. I've adapted Jim Mora's comments on Mare to suit the situation Sunday. Imagine the fallout if Mare had said:

"There's no excuses for those. If you're an offense in the National Football League, you should score touchdowns. Bottom line. End of story. Period. No excuses. No injuries, doesn't matter. You've gotta score those touchdowns, especially in a game like this where you're kicking field goals and kicking off and you miss those blocks up front? Not acceptable. Not acceptable. Absolutely not acceptable. ... I'll look at changes everywhere. I'm not going to kick my tail off and have the offense go out there and get 128 total yards and miss key blocks and lose the game. It's not going to happen."

It did happen -- the 128 yards part, not the quote. Mare did make his only field-goal try, a 28-yarder. He sent one kickoff into the end zone for a touchback. He sent the other to the 1-yard line.
