The St. Louis Rams' last few head coaches arrived with halos and departed with goat horns.
Their new coach, Jeff Fisher, brings his own prop: the NFL's most recognizable mustache.
Fisher's famed 'stache isn't quite in regular-season form. He wore a goatee for a while this offseason. While the goatee is gone and the 'stache is taking shape, Fisher was sporting some roughage around his beard area while representing the team at a charity function Tuesday.
That will change in time for the team's home opener against Washington in Week 2.
Sources close to the 'stache say Fisher will put his best follicles forward for the occasion. Fans purchasing discounted tickets though a "Stache Bash" promotion using will receive their very own fake Fisher 'staches to wear at the Edward Jones Dome.
Fisher has the resume and demeanor to pull this off. It shows he doesn't take himself too seriously. That's an important trait for anyone, and especially for a coach entering a situation as rough as the one in St. Louis. There's no substitute for winning, but if you're going to endure tough times while rebuilding, the right attitude can help.
