We had no idea the injury could have killed the St. Louis Rams' receiver.
Fox's Jay Glazer reported the news on TV Sunday.
A summary from the Red Zone: "Normally with a dislocation, the clavicle pops outward but in this instance it popped inward toward the aorta and trachea. They put him to sleep and popped the clavicle back in place and then pushed it to see if it would pop out again. The doctors said they have never seen this injury in the NFL, only in near fatal car accidents."
The Rams expect Amendola to miss about six weeks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Friday.
