My weekly Tuesday conversation with 101ESPN St. Louis featured thoughts on which NFC West team has the best shot at catching the San Francisco 49ers.

Seattle was my choice for a few reasons:
  • The Seahawks have five more games at home, where they are undefeated. The Cardinals have four more home games. The Rams have three games at the Edward Jones Dome, plus their London game against New England. Seattle gets every division opponent at home in December, a bonus.
  • Injuries are making life tougher than anticipated for the Cardinals.
  • Arizona's remaining opponents have won 61.7 percent of their games to this point. Only the Detroit Lions' remaining opponents (.636) have a higher winning percentage.
  • The Rams' reliance on turnovers was fine while the team was forcing them regularly. They have remaining games against some teams known for protecting the football (New England, San Francisco twice, the Seahawks in Seattle).

That was my feel Tuesday. Some will depend on whether the Seahawks' rookie quarterback, Russell Wilson, improves as the season progresses. He has six touchdown passes with no interceptions at home, but two touchdowns and seven picks on the road. Having those home games late in the season should help him.

Note: Regular host Bernie Miklasz will soon be back at his microphone now that he's finished chasing the St. Louis Cardinals through the National League playoffs.

Retired pro athletes Brian Boehringer (baseball) and Bernard Whittington (NFL) picked up the slack Tuesday. We discussed every team in the division.

The station has posted the audio here.
