The 49ers are boldly talking playoffs following their third consecutive defeat. Good for them. Nothing wrong with a little confidence.
If I'm Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, though, I'm posting those proclamations around the facility as a courtesy so Arizona players can start planning vacations for early January or, more likely, so they can file away the comments for future reference.
The Cardinals visit the 49ers for a Dec. 14 game on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" and I've already made flight reservations.
To be clear, Singletary didn't say the 49ers would win the division or qualify for the postseason at the Cardinals' expense, but no opposing coach should let semantics deter him from an easy motivational ploy.
