Lots going on this afternoon. I'll hit on a few updates before catching a flight out of Phoenix in the next couple of hours.

  • The Redskins are bringing in former Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander for a workout. Washington could sign him for short-term help while Ladell Betts recovers from a knee injury. Look for the Redskins to sign Alexander if the workout goes well. Alexander knows Jim Zorn's offense from their days together in Seattle.
  • Niners coach Mike Nolan told reporters the league told him officials should not have reviewed the 38-yard field goal he challenged against the Eagles. The league told reporters the play was reviewable. My take: The play was reviewable because officials ruled on the field that the ball did not travel above the upright. However, upon reflection, the league might have told Nolan that the ball did appear to travel above the upright. In that case, it would not be reviewable.
  • Rams quarterback Marc Bulger, left guard Jacob Bell and left tackle Orlando Pace suffered injuries that could limit them in practice this week. Fullback Brian Leonard is out for the season.
  • The Seahawks found out Matt Hasselbeck's back injury was contributing to his knee problems and the quarterback will probably miss another week. Receiver Deion Branch could return from a heel injury.
That's it from Arizona. Got to catch that flight.
