Jordan Kent is returning to the NFC West as a member of the Rams, Brian Stull of ESPN St. Louis reports.

The Seahawks spent two seasons working with Kent, a former record-setting track athlete at Oregon who needed considerable polish as a receiver.

Massive injury problems among Seattle's receivers last season forced Kent onto the active roster. He appeared on the game-day roster nine times. The extended time spent on the 45-man roster disqualified Kent from spending additional time on the practice squad.

The Seahawks had improved their depth at receiver enough to make keeping Kent a luxury they could not afford. The Rams' injuries at receiver are giving Kent another chance. He should be familiar with the basic offensive concepts. The Rams use terminology similar to what Seattle used when Mike Holmgren was head coach. That should help Kent make the transition in St. Louis.

Kent becomes the 10th receiver to spend time on the Rams' 53-man roster this season.

Update: Kent has signed the contract.
