Good morning, NFC West. The 2013 NFL draft begins Thursday night and ESPN has big plans.
Around the NFC West: April 25, 2013
The network plans 15.5 hours of live coverage with 23 cameras at the draft, 19 cameras delivering live shots of players off site, select war-room cameras and HD videoconferencing from all 32 team headquarters.
We'll have Josina Anderson reporting from St. Louis and Colleen Dominquez reporting from San Francisco.
I'll be spending a 15th consecutive draft over at Seattle Seahawks headquarters, even though the team holds no choice in the first round.
What's up with that? I've never found location key for covering drafts the way we cover them on the ESPN.com blogs. The draft is mostly a blur as the four teams make picks and trade picks, sometimes in rapid fire. There's barely enough time to look up between blog entries. We'll also be holding an ESPN.com chat beginning one hour before the draft and running all the way through the roughly three-hour first round.
There will be times over the next few days when the Seahawks will make available a coach or scout to reporters and I'll barely notice while tracking what another team from the division is doing at that moment. There is no other event on the NFL schedule quite like it from my perspective. It's a little mind-numbing for those of us with limited RAM but definitely one of my favorite times of the year. Hope you enjoy the ride.
