Anquan Boldin's possible return to the Cardinals' offense in Week 8 could give quarterback Kurt Warner the best array of weapons in the league. Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston, Tim Hightower, Edgerrin James and even J.J. Arrington offer plenty of options.
A quick look at how the offense has changed since Boldin departed after suffering serious injuries during a Week 4 defeat to the Jets:
- Rookie Tim Hightower has become a bigger and more productive part of the offense. Hightower has converted on 10 of 10 third-and-1 and fourth-and-1 situations this season. His 17-yard gain on a third-and-17 screen pass helped beat Dallas.
- Running back J.J. Arrington wasn't even a factor when Boldin left the lineup. He's been playing in a few situations, notably when the Cardinals use four receivers.
- Steve Breaston, who has 24 receptions for 301 yards in his last three games, was only beginning to emerge as a consistently productive receiver.
Boldin told reporters he hopes to get medical clearance Tuesday. The receiver said he had plates inserted in his face and wires rigged to restore his natural bite. He has regained the 10 pounds he lost on a liquid diet last week. There's no pressure to push Boldin's return. The offense is functioning well in the passing game, a testament to the Cardinals' depth at the skill positions and Warner's ability to distribute the football.
