How low can the Seahawks go? Down to 29th in the latest power rankings. That makes Seattle the lowest-ranked team in the division for the first time this season, fitting now that the Seahawks have fallen into sole possession of last place in the NFC West.

A quick look at the Seahawks by the numbers in a few telling areas, courtesy of ESPN Stats & Analysis:

  • 12: Pass plays of at least 30 yards allowed, tied with the Lions and Rams for most in the league. The Steelers (2) and Colts (2) have allowed a combined four.
  • 8: Running plays of 20 yards or longer, more than every team but the Giants (11), Falcons (9) and Redskins (9).
  • 6: Rushing plays allowed of at least 20 yards. Only the Chiefs (14), Rams (9), Broncos (9) and Bengals (7) have allowed more.
  • 5: Number of takeaways, tied with the Giants and Texans for fewest in the league. The Bears (16) and Bucs (15) have a combined 31.
  • 2: Pass plays of 30 yards or longer. Only the Bengals (1) have fewer. Dallas (14) and New Orleans (12) have a combined 26.
The Seahawks spent their offseason rebuilding their rushing attack. It worked. Julius Jones ranks tied for fourth in the league with five runs of at least 20 yards. Just about everything else has fallen apart. Seattle has traditionally set up the run with the pass. The team is now running the ball well enough most of the time. But it's not setting up the pass.
