The Rams thought the Patriots caught a break from referee Scott Green when the teams played in Week 8. Green assessed nine penalties against the Rams and zero against the Patriots.

That was the first time this season a referee failed to assess even one penalty against an NFL team during a regular-season game. It happened three times last season:

Green flagged the Patriots only once Sunday. The Rams declined the penalty. New England has been the least-penalized team in the NFL this season, with 22. Dallas (62) and San Francisco (60) have the most. Seattle has 32, tied for fourth-fewest. The Rams have 50, which ranks 21st.

Austin's crew assessed fewer penalties per game than any in the league last season. The league replaced Austin after the season.
