Browner misses practice; Avril returns
By Terry Blount
RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks starting cornerback Brandon Browner did not practice Monday because of a hamstring injury, but defensive end Cliff Avril returned to practice after being out with a hamstring problem.
If Browner is not available Sunday, the Seahawks could start either Walter Thurmond or Byron Maxwell in his spot. Thurmond is the team’s nickelback, so the Seahawks might elect to start Maxwell and just leave Thurmond to his nickelback duties.
The Seahawks also have second-year cornerback Jeremy Lane, who started three of the four games at the end of last season when Browner was suspended for PEDs.
Defensive end Chris Clemons (knee), defensive tackle Jordan Hill (biceps) and offensive linemen Michael Bowie (shoulder) also did not practice.
Returning to full participation at practice were defensive tackles Brandon Mebane and Tony McDaniel, the expected starters for the season opener. Both Mebane and McDaniel missed the final preseason game with groin injuries.
