Steve Korte of Ramblings quotes Torry Holt as being frustrated by his diminished role in the Rams' offense. Holt said he won't say anything to the coaching staff because his career speaks for itself. The Rams are clearly giving rookies Donnie Avery and Keenan Burton a chance to prove themselves. Avery has validated that chance by his production.
Bill Coats of the Around the Horns says Holt feels as though he is being phased out "at times" despite getting open.
Mike Lombardi of the National Football Post says 49ers coach Mike Singletary needs help to become more effective as a leader. Lombardi, a former executive with the Raiders, compares Singletary to other great former players who struggled to relate as coaches. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were the examples Lombardi raised.
Frank Hughes of the Tacoma News Tribune says Seahawks assistant Jim Mora has told another reporter that he is not a candidate for the University of Washington job.
Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times says the Seahawks could lean on rookie fullback Owen Schmitt because Leonard Weaver has a foot injury. Also, Lofa Tatupu was in uniform at practice Friday. Tatupu worked out before practice but did not practice.
Mike Tulumello of the East Valley Tribune says the Cardinals are in good shape from a healthy standpoint, particularly with tight end Ben Patrick practicing Friday.
