Postscript on Seahawks' Branch trade
By Mike Sando
The Patriots selected safety Brandon Meriweather with the 2007 first-round choice they acquired from Seattle in the Deion Branch trade.
Meriweather was named to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement.
Seattle couldn't control how New England used the choice, but I've always kept an eye on Meriweather from afar, just to see how the Patriots fared on their end of the deal. The Patriots missed Branch badly during the playoffs after the 2006 season, when dropped passes contributed to their 38-34 defeat against Indianapolis in the AFC title game.
Branch's inflated 2010 salary makes him appear vulnerable as the Seahawks welcome a new general manager and coaching staff.
