Filling in for an otherwise occupied Mike Sando here ...
Scott Linehan's decision to pass on San Francisco's offensive coordinator job suggests he was serious when he said he would take family considerations into his next job.
Linehan told Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee:
"At 45, I look at things a lot differently than when I was 25. I have a wife. I have three kids."
It's possible that he has a more attractive offer. His name hasn't come up at all in Detroit, but you have to wonder whether he would be interested in reuniting with quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who is on the Lions' roster.
Two other candidates the 49ers interviewed for the job remain in play: Colts receivers coach Clyde Christensen and former Browns offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski. According to Barrows' report, team officials will meet Sunday night to determine whether to offer one of them the job or conduct future interviews.
