Scott Linehan's decision to become the Lions' offensive coordinator could make sense on two levels.
The former Rams head coach had cited family reasons in declining the 49ers' offer to become offensive coordinator in San Francisco. If Linehan decides to keep his family in the St. Louis area, he'll have an easier time visiting them from Detroit than if he had taken a job on the West Coast.
Linehan's decision might also tell us about the quarterback prospects of both organizations. Perhaps the Detroit job would have been more appealing if Linehan thought the Lions were likely to select a quarterback with the first overall choice in the draft.
