Jay Feely makes history for Cardinals
By Mike Sando
Jay Feely became the first NFL kicker since 2001 to score a rushing touchdown when the Arizona Cardinals' kicker supplemented his five field goals with some unexpected production on the ground Sunday.
Better yet for Feely, his team won the game, claiming a 43-13 victory over Denver at University of Phoenix Stadium.
The ESPN Stats & Information blog has some good info from Elias Sports Bureau putting Feely's performance in perspective:
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Feely is the first kicker to rush for a touchdown since Tim Seder for the 2001 Cowboys. He’s the fourth kicker in the last 40 years to rush for a touchdown, and he tied a career-high with five field goals. Amazingly, he was responsible for six consecutive scores in this 43-13 win over the Denver Broncos, the Cardinals' biggest win since 1993. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Feely is the first player to have five field goals and rush for a touchdown in the same game.
Feely also made a tackle during a kickoff return. I'm not sure what more Feely could have done in this game. What kind of arm does he have?
