Seahawks optimistic on Deon Butler
By Mike Sando
NEW ORLEANS -- Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll offered an encouraging update Tuesday regarding badly injured receiver Deon Butler.
"I saw Deon maybe two weeks ago and he is feeling terrific," Carroll said Tuesday at the NFL owners meeting. "He is way ahead of schedule."
Butler suffered a career-threatening fracture to his right leg during a December game against the San Francisco 49ers. The Seahawks do not know when he'll return and they'll be cautious given the nature of the injury.
"He feels very comfortable with his recovery and all that," Carroll said. "He gets around fine and all that. It's still a big recovery, but being a smaller guy helps him some. He has taken to the whole process with a really good attitude about it."
Seahawks running back Leon Washington suffered a similar injury early during the 2009 season. He returned in time for the 2010 season and scored three touchdowns on kickoff returns.
