XTRA910 audio: NFC West Week 6
By Mike Sando
Kevin Kolb's first five starts with the Arizona Cardinals have produced a few highlights, but also a four-game losing streak and a 1-4 record.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt has encouraged patience by noting that arguably the best quarterback in the NFL today, Aaron Rodgers, suffered from "uneven" play early in his starting tenure. Cardinals guard Daryn Colledge, who signed with Arizona from Green Bay during the offseason, has drawn similar parallels.
Whisenhunt prefaced his remarks by saying he wasn't suggesting Kolb would become the next Rodgers. As the chart suggests, statistical comparisons are limited. Rodgers had six additional total touchdowns, four fewer turnovers and five fewer sacks in 2008 than Kolb has through his first five games in Arizona.
These were among the subjects Barry Markson and I discussed during my weekly conversation with XTRA Sports 910 AM in Phoenix on Friday. Barry was filling in for regular hosts Dan Bickley and Mike Jurecki. Full audio here.
We also discussed each of the other NFC West teams, including the San Francisco 49ers' chances at Detroit.
Update: Not sure what's up with the audio link. Several said they could not listen to it. Now, as I try it, it's not working either. I'm on it. Sorry about that.
Second update: I was able to download the file here.
