2012 Grid Challenge: Time to set lineups
By Mike Sando
The 2012 NFL regular season kicks off Wednesday, which means those joining the NFC West Gridiron Challenge need to consider setting lineups soon.
My wife, victorious over me a couple years ago, will be back and looking to atone for her embarrassing showing in 2011. Our sons have been asking to participate this year, so we could see them registering as well. I'm guaranteed a top-four finish in our family, pretty much.
Click on the link in the first paragraph to start building your team. This league is easily managed in a few minutes a week. Fielding a poor team in Week 1 doesn't set you up for a season of humiliation. There's always next week in this league.
ESPN.com's Tom Carpenter has the details:
"Perhaps you had an early fantasy football draft last season, dropped your first-rounder on Jamaal Charles, an early pick on Kenny Britt and rolled the dice on Peyton Manning's slowly recovering neck.
"If you did, your season was essentially over by Week 3, which left you with another three-plus months of watching your team suffer in vain.
"Due to the salary-cap approach of the Gridiron Challenge, you won't run into that problem in this game. Each week you cull your lineup from the entire NFL player pool; so as long as you have the finances to do so, you can add and drop any player you like. This is a game that will test your ability to ride the hottest hand or two each week at each position, while displaying your salary-cap acumen."
See you there. I'll update results each week on the blog.
