No offense, but D not meant to be nice

By Mike Sando

Quick, what do the following situations have in common?
The answer: All three situations featured offensive-oriented guys complaining about defensive-oriented guys.

Some of this is by nature. Defensive players are the ones hitting and tackling most of the time. But it's worth pointing out, I think, that the NFL has continually changed rules to help offenses, both in the interests of higher-scoring games and to address concerns over player safety. Yet, we tend to hear the offensive guys complaining, at least around here.

Defensive coordinators around the NFC West must be smiling. They're getting under the offensive guys' skin, it appears.

Note: Harbaugh has responded to comments from Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.
