Silver linings: Seahawks at Giants

The facts: Seattle wasn't competitive during a 44-6 defeat to the Giants at the Meadowlands in Week 5.
The upside: Even the worst defeats tend to feature a bright spot or two.
Another potential silver lining for Seattle unrelated to this horrendous performance: The Seahawks return home to face an injury-depleted and struggling Packers team. Green Bay has allowed at least 25 points in each of its last four games. The Packers are 2-3 after a 2-0 start.
- Bobby Engram caught eight passes in his first game back from a shoulder injury. Unlike Deion Branch, he didn't suffer another injury.
- Matt Hasselbeck apparently avoided a serious knee injury after suffering a hyperextension during Seattle's first possession. Hasselbeck's initial reaction suggested a serious injury. He finished the game.
- Olindo Mare made two more field goals without a miss. He has made all nine attempts this season, including one from 50-plus yards.
- Officials assessed only two penalties against Seattle. The Seahawks had suffered more penalty problems than usual through three games.
