Around the NFC West: Money's on 49ers
By Mike Sando
The San Francisco 49ers, fourth in our latest NFL power rankings, sit atop the "Bettors' Poll" heading into Week 10.
I'd never seen the Bettors' Poll before running across it Tuesday night.
Dave Tuley, who picks NFL games against the spread for ESPN, works with two others to update it each week. They note that San Francisco, Seattle and St. Louis are a combined 16-9 against the spread this season.
The Seahawks are 13th in the poll this week. The Rams (25th) and Cardinals (26th) lag.
A look at the lines for Week 10 shows the 49ers favored by 11 points at home against the Rams.
San Francisco has won its past 11 home games against division opponents, the longest active streak in the league. That is the 49ers' longest home winning streak against a division opponent since the team won 11 in a row from 1991-1995.
The Seahawks opened as 5.5-point favorites at home against the New York Jets. The spread has grown by a point, indicating bettors have taken Seattle and given the points.
