Sando's best guesses: Week 10 predictions
By Mike Sando
The Seattle Seahawks' 30-20 victory over Minnesota last week gave the team a 5-1 record outside the NFC West.
It also helped stem a recent trend. NFC West teams had gone 1-7 outside the division over a three-week period. That fell to 1-8 when Arizona lost to Green Bay hours before Seattle defeated the Vikings.
Seattle, Arizona and San Francisco are 12-6 in non-division games. St. Louis is 1-5 in them.
Seattle can make it 6-1 against non-division teams with a victory over the New York Jets in Week 10. That's what I'm expecting to happen. Here's a look at my NFC West predictions for Week 10:
- New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks, 4:05 p.m. The Seahawks have faced two of the most impressive offensive players of any era over the past two weeks. The Jets don't have a Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson for the Seahawks to worry about. Their run defense also appears weak. This game sets up well for Seattle as long as rookie quarterback Russell Wilson takes care of the football. Sando's best guess: Seahawks 27, Jets 10
- St. Louis Rams at San Francisco 49ers, 4:25 ET: The Rams are wrapping up a brutal three-game stretch featuring Green Bay, New England and San Francisco. Those teams were a combined 41-7 last season. The Rams were 2-14. They're better this season, but not that much better. Most of the matchups favor San Francisco here. Sando's best guess: 49ers 31, Rams 10
I've somehow gone 8-0 on picks in recent weeks. The season record is 21-8.
Noted: We've also got the "You called it" competition going, plus the Pigskin Pick'em group. Best of luck.
