Rams: Knocking out Smith continues trend
By Mike Sando
SAN FRANCISCO -- Looks like Jeff Fisher's addition to the NFC West as St. Louis Rams coach is having its desired effect on opposing quarterbacks.
The Rams knocked out San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith with a concussion while taking a 14-7 lead at Candlestick Park in Week 10.
The Rams have picked off Seattle's Russell Wilson three times, sacked Arizona's Kevin Kolb nine times and knocked out Smith -- all in less than 10 quarters of NFC West action.
The Rams are 2-0 in NFC West play. They are on their way to making it 3-0 unless the 49ers can overcome a seven-point deficit with the untested Colin Kaepernick at quarterback. Kaepernick has been off-target with multiple passes since replacing Smith.
