Shhh, don't talk about Sherman, Browner
By Mike Sando
The Seattle Seahawks released a statement Wednesday saying cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner will no longer discuss their potential four-game suspensions for performance-enhancing drugs.
We'll have to pick up the slack.
Neither player has been suspended. It's looking like both will play against Chicago in Week 13 pending further notice from the NFL.
While both would be missed, most of Seattle's remaining opponents lag in NFL rankings on throws where Sherman and Browner would be most valuable. These are downfield throws (10-plus yards past the line of scrimmage) delivered on the perimeter (outside the yard-line numbers).
The chart, provided by Micah Adams of ESPN Stats & Information, shows where the Seahawks' upcoming opponents rank in Total QBR on these throws. Only San Francisco ranks higher than 21st. Seattle's defense ranks second in the same category, trailing only that of the Bears.
Sherman ranks second to the Chicago Bears' Tim Jennings (eight) with seven combined interceptions and passes defensed on these throws. That is more than the totals for all Sherman's teammates.
