First-half thoughts as Seahawks down big

By Mike Sando

The Seattle Seahawks bear full responsibility for their 20-0 halftime deficit against the Atlanta Falcons.

They've surrendered seven points off a Marshawn Lynch fumble. They've gotten zero points from two red zone possessions. One of those drives ended with a fullback run for no gain on fourth-and-1. The other ended after Russell Wilson took a sack and the first-half clock ran out. Those are the types of miscues that get teams beat.

Seattle's defense has had some issues, but those issues haven't been the primary problem. Rookie Bobby Wagner even picked off a Matt Ryan pass. But with the offense getting nothing going despite having opportunities, the score is lopsided.

This one is not over yet. The Seahawks will get the ball to open the second half. A touchdown drive would get them back into the game. It's just tough to envision that happening based on how sloppy Seattle has played and coached to this point in the game.

Seattle now has one touchdown on eight red zone possessions in the playoffs.
