GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Johnathan Franklin was back on kickoff return duties for the first time in nearly a month, but he didn’t last long.
After the opening kickoff against the Minnesota Vikings, which he returned for 22 yards, the Green Bay Packers rookie running back was taken to the locker room for a concussion evaluation. Franklin appeared to fumble on the play, but officials ruled him down by contact.
Franklin lost the return job after he struggled in the first game against the Vikings on Oct. 27 and was replaced by Micah Hyde. However, the Packers went back to Franklin because Hyde had been limited in practice by a groin injury. Hyde then replaced Franklin on kickoff returns.
Franklin has played sparingly on offense since his 103-yard rushing game at Cincinnati in Week 3. He has had only six carries since, including none in the last four games.
Update: The Packers confirmed that Franklin sustained a concussion and will not return.
