EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Jets will have only two quarterbacks available Sunday as they host Miami for a 1 p.m. game. Starter Geno Smith will be backed up by Matt Simms, and veteran quarterback David Garrard is again inactive.
Smith has not thrown a touchdown pass since October, and the Jets have lost two straight games, but they are not taking out an insurance policy on the position in Garrard.
Smith will have Santonio Holmes on the field. Holmes is active despite missing the two practices prior to the game with a hamstring injury. He is also listed on the injury report with the Lisfranc injury he sustained last season.
WR Jeremy Kerley (elbow) will not play.
CB Antonio Cromartie, who left last week’s loss to Baltimore in the third quarter with a recurring hip injury, will play.
