The Baltimore Ravens blog on ESPN.com will count down the top 20 players on this year's team over the next four weeks.
How did we come up with these rankings? I polled 18 media members who cover the team, asking them to give me their top 20 players based on talent and not on how valuable they are to the team. I used a simple system where a first-place vote is worth 20 points, a second-place one is 19 points, a third-place one is 18 points, etc.
The results varied greatly, which makes for an interesting countdown. There were 28 players who received votes, and only seven appeared on every single one.
The countdown will begin Monday and run through the middle of July, which is typically the down period between the end of minicamp and the start of training camp. The 20th-ranked player will be unveiled Monday, and the No. 1 player will be announced July 18.
Here is the panel of voters: Morgan Adsit (WBFF-TV), Clifton Brown (Comcast SportsNet Baltimore), Jerry Coleman (105.7 The Fan), Bruce Cunnningham (WBFF-TV), Steve Davis (105.7 The Fan), John Eisenberg (Baltimore Ravens website), Pete Gilbert (WBAL-TV), David Ginsburg (Associated Press), Brent Harris (Comcast SportsNet Baltimore), Brett Hollander (WBAL Radio), Luke Jones (WNST Radio), Joe Platania (the Press Box), Gerry Sandusky (WBAL-TV), Mark Viviano (WJZ-TV), Aaron Wilson (Baltimore Sun), Matt Zenitz (Carroll County Times), Jeff Zrebiec (Baltimore Sun) and Jamison Hensley (ESPN.com).
