Six NFL players -- Atlanta Falcons defensive end Osi Umenyiora, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr, Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Will Blackmon, Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake and Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Menelik Watson -- are scheduled to be in London this week to promote the three regular-season games that will be played there this season.
The three games involve the Dolphins at the Raiders on Sept. 28; the Lions at the Falcons on Oct. 26; and the Cowboys at the Jaguars on Nov. 9.
It’s not surprising the NFL turned to Umenyiora and Watson, in particular, to promote these games as both players were born in Britain.
Umenyiora was born in London and spent his first seven years there before moving with is parents to Nigeria. Watson was born and raised in Manchester before going to the United States to play basketball and eventually turning to football, the sport in which he became the highest-drafted British-born player, selected with the 42nd overall pick in the 2013 draft.
