Meet the latest Fins weapon: Patrick Cobbs
In the first half of today's game against the Houston Texans, they've introduced us to Patrick Cobbs, who caught two passes for touchdowns of 53 yards (on a connect-the-dots Wildcat dazzler) and 80 yards (on a screen) to give the Dolphins a 14-13 halftime lead.
So who is this guy?
Cobbs is Miami's third running back behind Brown and Ricky Williams. The Dolphins list Cobbs at 5-foot-8 and 205 pounds. He made the team out of training camp as a third-down back and was impressive enough that the Dolphins declined to keep two draft picks, Jalen Parmele and Lex Hilliard, on their roster.
Cobbs, undrafted out of North Texas in 2006, went to camp with the New England Patriots that year but was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers before the season. The Steelers waived him a week later. He latched on with the Dolphins practice squad.
Cobbs came into the season with 58 total yards rushing and receiving and one touchdown. Through the Dolphins first four games he ran three times for 5 yards and caught two passes for 14 yards.
