“It’s none of those things,” Tomsula said when asked specifically about an injury to the fascia.
“I don’t know the whole thing but his foot’s sore. I don’t want to put a medical label on it but he’s sore in there. I guess it’s a bruise. He’s got an orthotic in there, they’re working through it that way, and we’re just managing it with the pounding in practice.”
Hyde, who rushed for 55 yards on 21 carries in the Niners’ 25-20 defeat of the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, went down in a heap untouched when he attempted to plant his left foot and cut in the second half.
“I just put too much pressure, too much weight on it,” Hyde said. “It hurts when I put too much weight on it.
“It just shocked me how bad it hurt when I tried to put too much weight on it and I just went down.”
And though Hyde returned to the game, the rival Seattle Seahawks coming to town for a Thursday night affair at Levi’s Stadium, raises questions about Hyde’s effectiveness on a short work week. His 430 rushing yards rank seventh in the NFL.
“I think I’ll be all right,” Hyde said. “You know, get more treatment on it this week so maybe I’ll be able to go Thursday. I think I’ll be all right.”
