Derek Anderson moves near the top of the list of available backup quarterbacks following his release from the Browns.

The Seahawks and Cardinals have obvious needs at the position. ESPN's Adam Schefter thinks the Cardinals could pursue Anderson. I'm not sure whether the Seahawks would ultimately have interest, but Anderson does have strong ties to the Northwest.
"After an excellent 2007 season, Anderson has been too erratic to be considered a true starter in this league," reads the Scouts Inc. breakdown on Anderson. "His arm strength is far and away his best attribute. Anderson doesn't put enough touch on his underneath throws and overall, isn't particularly accurate. When bodies are falling around him, his downfield focus is often compromised and he doesn't do well when the play doesn't go to script. He is also a terrible athlete for the position with heavy feet and the inability to avoid rushers. In his defense, Anderson's receivers did not help his cause in 2008."
