Singletary: Davis, Iupati will fit in

Mike Singletary said the 49ers drafted two offensive lineman in the first round because they want to be able to run the ball, have a balanced attack and the physicality of Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati fits that plan and the 49er identity. He said it gives them stability and helps running back Frank Gore and quarterback Alex Smith.
Davis and Iupati should give Smith more confidence in the pocket. Singletary said they gave “very little” thought to drafting Jimmy Clausen with their two first round picks, saying they feel very good about Smith. But Singletary added they may add a quarterback in a later round.
