The Green Bay Packers are dealing with two significant injuries among their line backing corps, coach Mike McCarthy said. Nick Barnett (wrist) and Brandon Chillar (shoulder) missed practice Wednesday and are both set to receive second medical opinions this week.
Asked if there was a possibility that both could miss significant time, McCarthy said: “Yeah, there is definitely a possibility. That’s why more information being gathered.”
Desmond Bishop would figure as the likeliest replacement for Barnett, who suffered the injury in last Sunday’s 28-26 victory over the Detroit Lions and played the second half with a splint. But without Bishop and Chillar, the only healthy inside linebackers on the roster are Bishop and A.J. Hawk.
Chillar almost certainly will miss Sunday’s game at the Washington Redskins. Barnett’s short-term future might not be determined until after getting his second opinion. Stay tuned.
