The Philadelphia Eagles made it official Tuesday. They've placed their franchise tag on star quarterback Michael Vick -- if such a thing still exists under the next collective bargaining agreement. The Eagles also placed their transition tag on kicker David Akers, a move that will give them a chance to match if another team attempts to sign him.
Vick should make somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 million next season. Just because the Eagles have placed the tag on him doesn't mean they can't negotiate a long-term contract once there's a new CBA. With Vick under contract, look for the Eagles to listen to offers for Kevin Kolb, who is under contract through next season.
