The San Diego Chargers had to wait a long time to join the party Saturday.
When it was finally their turn, the Chargers made a fascinating call.
With the 18th pick of the sixth round, No. 183 overall, San Diego took Connecticut running back/returner Jordan Todman. The compact 5-foot-9, 202-pound Todman was a consistent playmaker in college and a dynamic return man. It is another indication the Chargers will not seek to bring back running back/returner Darren Sproles.
Todman can join Ryan Mathews and Mike Tolbert in the backfield in addition to returning kicks. Second-round pick, Clemson cornerback/safety Marcus Gilchrist, can also return kicks.
