The San Diego Union Tribune reports that the Chargers are monitoring Carolina receiver Steve Smith and could be interested in trading for him once the lockout is over.
It has been reported that Smith would be interested in joining the Chargers. Smith, who will be 32 next week, caught 46 passes last season.
The report mentions that the Chargers usually don’t go after players with character issues, but could be interested because of their unsettled situation at receiver. This will be interesting to watch. I’m sure other teams will be interested, but if this trade does happen, a savvy player like Smith would only help an already dangerous offense.
Meanwhile, the San Diego Union Tribune believes linebacker Antwan Applewhite could be on his way out of San Diego after his arrest on suspicion of drunk driving.
The Chiefs’ website believes the team will pursue help on the offensive line in free agency.
