Jones played his college ball at Tennessee and has five years of NFL experience with the Giants, Buccaneers and Panthers. He was originally a seventh-round choice by Tampa Bay in 2004.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Jones has played in 59 career regular-season games. His statistics include 156 punt returns for 1,460 yards, an average of 9.4 yards per attempt, and he also boasts a 24.2-yard average (1,405 yards) on 58 career kickoff returns.
That lines him up to take over for Carr, an efficient return man last year who went to the Ravens looking for more opportunities to play as a cornerback.

Jones is a backup receiver who gets most of his action as a return specialist. He is undersized and has excellent quickness, agility and a good burst of speed. He is a very raw route runner and struggles to get off the line versus physical press corners. He lacks soft, natural hands that can consistently reach out and pluck the ball away from his body. He is a good punt and kickoff return specialist and has the speed to be a threat to go all the way every time he touches the ball.
