PALM BEACH, Fla. -- New Orleans coach Sean Payton has arrived at the NFL owners meetings at The Breakers.

Payton was riding in a sport utility vehicle that pulled up to the front of the resort with a police escort. About a dozen television cameras were waiting to get video of Payton entering the hotel. But the vehicles paused momentarily and then drove by the cameras. The vehicles went around to the back of the hotel and, from there, Payton was escorted into the room where NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is presently making opening remarks to team owners, executives and coaches.

Payton will begin a one-year suspension April 1. It remains unclear if Payton, general manger Mickey Loomis (who will be suspended for the first eight games of the season) and team owner Tom Benson will address the media about the three-year bounty program the NFL says the Saints ran that led to the suspensions as well as a $500,000 fine for the team and the loss of second-round draft picks this year and in 2013.

League officials have urged the Saints to publicly address the situation early in the three-day meeting, but the decision ultimately is up to the team.
