INDIANAPOLIS -- Andrew Luck is a master compartmentalizer.
Now that he’s officially the first pick of the 2012 NFL draft and the starting quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, will he have to create more compartments? Larger ones? Or with football as his job will a singular focus take up one big box?
“The thing that has made him successful as a player and as a student at Stanford, is he compartmentalizes so well,” said Eliot Allen, Luck’s coach at Stratford High School in Houston. “When he is doing football, that’s all he thinks about. When he’s doing engineering, the same. He just does a real good job of focusing on the one thing that’s in front of him.
“I beg other kids to emulate that. I’ve never been around anyone like him, an adult or a young person. He just has a certain demeanor about him that is so engaging. He’s a down-to-earth, humble, good guy. He has a knack for making friends, saying the right thing and doing the right thing, and it’s very contagious.”
That’s the kind of contagious the Colts need.
Hopefully passes won’t be the only thing his teammates catch from him.
