Few teams have the luxury of going into training camp with two experienced backups like the Steelers. Byron Leftwich is the best insurance policy at quarterback in the AFC North. He has started 49 games (24-25 record) and passed for 10,260 yards and 58 touchdowns. The challenge for Leftwich is to remain healthy himself. He injured his knee in the 2010 preseason finale and broke his arm in last year's preseason. Even though Leftwich has major durability questions, you have to be equally unsure whether Charlie Batch can hold up for an extended period at age 37. Still, Batch is as dependable as you can get. He is 5-2 as a spot starter since joining the Steelers in 2003. The backup quarterback position is an important one for the Steelers. Roethlisberger has played all 16 games only once in his eight-year NFL career.
Confidence rating (out of 100) if Roethlisberger goes out for extended period: 71.
