Here are the most interesting stories Monday in the AFC North:
- Is there a lot of pressure on rookie defensive lineman Evander "Ziggy" Hood to perform right away for the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Morning take: I'm not sure this is an accurate assessment. Hood was the No. 32 overall pick and is not a starter, which takes pressure away. Unless an injury alters the rotation, "Ziggy" should be asked to fill a manageable role early on the defensive line.
- Baltimore Ravens receiver Derrick Mason could miss training camp after offseason shoulder surgery.
Morning take: This may be a concern down the road. But Mason, 35, doesn't strike me as a player who needs a lot of training camp. The most important thing is Mason getting 100 percent healthy for the regular season.
- Agent Drew Rosenhaus said Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ocho Cinco is in the best shape of his career.
Morning take: A healthy and motivated Ocho Cinco could make a world of difference for the Bengals, who need the long ball back in their offense for the 2009 season.
- Penalties will not be accepted by new Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini.
Morning take: This is one area the Browns should improve. Mangini is putting a big emphasis on not giving away games with silly mistakes, which was an all-too-common occurrence for Cleveland the past several seasons.
