OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Joe Flacco believes a deal will eventually get done, but the Ravens quarterback doesn't know when it will happen. If he and the Ravens can't agree on a contract this summer, he is fine if talks linger into the regular season, which is a different stance than three months ago.
Flacco"It doesn't matter to me," Flacco said after the Ravens' first training-camp practice. "It's not like I'm up in the offices negotiating my contract. I really don't have any thought about it. It's up to my agent."
Flacco added, "It's not going to distract me. I really haven't thought it about all offseason. I'm not thinking about it now."
In April, Flacco said he wanted a deal before the start of the season to avoid any "complicated" matters. Now, it doesn't sound like it would bother him.
"I'm not worried about it. I haven't been worried about it, and I'm not worried about it," said Flacco, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract. "It will happen one day, and whenever it happens, I'll be excited."
The biggest adjustment for Flacco this offseason has been adjusting to his new role -- father. His son, Stephen Vincent, is six weeks old.
Flacco said there hasn't been too many sleepless nights and he made the point that he doesn't change diapers. But having a son has changed him.
"It was definitely different leaving home this time having him around," Flacco said about heading to training camp. "Usually you pack your bags up and it's not too big of a deal ... sorry to my wife. But to leave both of them behind was a little bit different."
